Sharon Mae (Christensen) Hutchinson

Sharon Mae Hutchinson, age 90, of Brainerd, died on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

A Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Sharon was born to Marvin and Angeline (Anglo) Christensen on August 23, 1931 in Sioux City, IA. After graduating from high school, Sharon earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in Rockwell City, IA, where she met her husband, Don. Together, they moved to Brainerd where Sharon continued her teaching career in both elementary and special education within the Brainerd area. She enjoyed decorating and baking for every holiday, crafting, watching PBS, reading, and staying active in various church groups.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hutchinson; brothers, Marvin (Ann) Christensen, Ron (Nancy) Christensen, Jim (Darcy) Christensen; sisters-in-law, Jan and Pat Christensen and Stella (Roger) Hepp; and special friends, Donna and Brian Engholm. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Don; her parents; and two brothers, Edward and Rick Christensen.
