Virginia Mae Christle, 95, of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Interment will be near where she grew up in the Nicollet Catholic Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required, please respect this and come to remember a great lady.
Virginia was born May 7, 1925, in Nicollet, MN, the daughter of Henry and Leocadia (Berger) Wentzlaff. Her childhood was spent living on an island in Swan Lake. Virginia taught for many years, starting in a one room schoolhouse in Truman and concluding by being an active substitute in the Brainerd and Baxter School District. She also worked as head waitress at Breezy Point, where she made many good friends.
Virginia enjoyed gardening and quilting. She enjoyed all her church activities, including teaching Sunday School. She loved baby dill pickles, and in younger years could out fish our Dad. She loved her children and cherished being a Mom. Her family and was always most important.
She will be missed by her sons, Allan Christle, Tom (Karen) Christle, and Terry (Patty) Christle; 10 grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Sandra Christle; daughter-in-law, Jerri Christle; and great-grandson, Ricky Holmquist.
Thank you to all of Virginia’s friends and clergy of St. Francis Church, she very much enjoyed your fellowship and love.
Thank you to all the staff at Bethany Good Samaritan Home, as well as the outstanding Nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Hanske who cared for Mom and helped her so much over the years.
